At least Escott took the trouble to rearrange it!!!

@MrSizemore7 My brother said almost exactly the same thing bout why it didn’t any recognition even though it is top 3 in the best films of 2011! He said it’s because of the subject matter and it being so intense. I personally think it may be that some just don’t know how to handle a film of this magnitude and level in a way and I think it’s unfortunate because when you can really see it like the rest of us, it’s so beautiful and breathtaking.

I have a hunch many of the academy members saw some of themselves in Brandon, his sister, or even Brandon’s lame boss. It’s definitely an uncomfortable and realistic film to watch, which is what makes it a masterpiece to me.
Happily, I hadn’t seen the Thin Red Line before seeing Shame, but yes ,Escott’s music is completely modelled on Zimmer’s, though what I find interesting is how Escott darkens the mood by making just a few small but very telling changes to the ‘orginal’. Wonderful film anyway, and the music is essential to its power.

This is such an emotional music, when this was playing i couldn’t take my eye of the screen, it was cross cutting between the present and past. Michael’s character was going through all this shameful stuff.. it was sad to watch… This music just makes me think about life… and ask myself the question is anything worth it?. It was just pure amazing film-making.
